πŸ– Barbecue in the Former Sunshine Bakery

Bradley's BBQ

Bradley's BBQ serves ribs, pulled pork, and brisket at 1209 Broad Street in the former Sunshine Bakery. The restaurant is part of Augusta's Fat Man's Hospitality family.

The second dining room uses the bakery's original tin letters, and its old bread trays have become benches. Pair a plate with Kyle's hash and rice, or grab the boiled peanuts brought back from Fat Man's Forest.

Augusta Business Brief

🎨 This Augusta Painter's 3-Year Warranty Stays With the House, Even If You Sell It

IMG_8082 - Nathan f.jpeg

A fresh coat of paint is supposed to help a house sell. At That 1 Painter Greater Augusta, it comes with something you can hand the buyer, too: a 3-year warranty that transfers with the house and still covers the paint job after you move out.

That's the kind of promise you make when you plan to answer for the work yourself. Anson and Jaime Fain own and run the Greater Augusta location personally, so the people you meet at your estimate are the people accountable for the result. Anson retired from the U.S. Army Special Forces before opening it, and he walks your home before quoting so the scope, the cost and the timing are clear up front.

Customers notice. Juanita Maclauchlan wrote, "He showed up right on time for our quote and really took the time to listen to what we wanted done."

The crew paints interiors, exteriors, cabinets, brick and limewash across Augusta, Evans, Martinez and Grovetown, and they're licensed and insured. If a repaint has been on your list, their website shows the work, the warranty and how a quote works, so you can decide before anyone picks up a brush.

πŸ›οΈ Augusta passes data center rules 6-5 on second reading

The Gist: Augusta commissioners approved the city’s 29-page data center ordinance on its second reading Tuesday, October 6, in a 6-5 vote. It bars data centers from residential and agricultural zones and sets rules for noise, buffers and water use.

Why It Matters: District 1 Commissioner Jordan Johnson said data center applications are expected in his district. Residents called for stronger oversight, including clearer enforcement and monitoring of water use.

What's Next: The Planning Department has a special-called meeting October 21, with an opportunity for public input on the broader zoning rewrite.

Why It Matters: The bonds would let Augusta jump-start SPLOST 9 projects, including work on the detention center, Juvenile Court and Riverwalk, ahead of sales tax collections.

What's Next: Commissioners can still adjust the project list before final adoption.

β›ͺ North Augusta advances Victory Baptist rezoning

The Gist: North Augusta City Council advanced a request October 5th to rezone Victory Baptist Church for general commercial use. Pastor C.T. Townsend said a 2024 city rule requires commercial zoning for gatherings of more than 600 people.

Why It Matters: The church wants to add a new kids ministry area and extra foyer space. Neighbors behind the property worry about what commercial zoning could allow there in the future.
