🏠 Tiny Homes for Foster Youth Taking Shape on Merry Street

The Gist: Bridge Builder Communities' first tiny home village for youth aging out of foster care is now under construction, with 11 homes standing and 15 more on the way. The 25-home community will include workforce training, life skills support, and partnerships with Augusta Tech and Augusta University.

Why It Matters: Hundreds of young adults exit Georgia's foster system each year with nowhere to go. This project offers a real solution right here in Augusta.

🗳️ Six Candidates Qualify for House District 130 Special Election

The Gist: Four Democrats and two Republicans have qualified for the March 10 special primary for Georgia House District 130. All candidates will appear on one ballot in a "jungle primary" format.

Why It Matters: This open seat race will determine who represents parts of Augusta in the state legislature.

🚔 Suspect Charged in Evans Shooting That Locked Down Schools

The Gist: Davonte Taylor, 18, of Evans was arrested and charged with aggravated assault after a shooting on Commons Drive that injured 21-year-old father Chad Clayborn. The incident prompted lockdowns at Lakeside High, Lakeside Middle, and Blue Ridge Elementary Wednesday afternoon.

Why It Matters: The shooting happened near several schools, raising concerns about safety, but deputies confirmed no school property was involved.
