🍽️ Restaurant Spotlight: Whiskey Bar Kitchen
A block off the Riverwalk on Broad Street, Whiskey Bar Kitchen pulls off an unlikely combo: authentic Japanese cuisine on one side of the menu, craft burgers on the other, and a wall of 200+ whiskeys behind the bar. Founded by brothers Kenny and Bobby Morrison, the spot is ranked #4 of 341 Augusta restaurants on Tripadvisor. Katsu Curry Rice and Lava Shrimp Tacos sit next to the Kitchen Sink and Teriyaki Burger, with small plates like whiskey-sauteed edamame bridging the two halves. Open Mon-Sat 11am-10pm at 1048 Broad St.

⛳ The Patch Reopens With a Tiger Woods-Designed Short Course

Augusta Municipal Golf Course, known to locals as The Patch, reopened to the public Wednesday after a 16-month renovation. The facility now features a redesigned 18-hole course by architects Tom Fazio and Beau Welling, plus The Loop at The Patch, a new 9-hole short course designed by Tiger Woods and TGR Design. Practice facilities include a Trackman Range and a complimentary putting course.
Why it matters: Local rates stay affordable. The 18-hole walking rate for local residents is $25 Monday through Thursday and $35 Friday through Sunday, while The Loop is $15 for local residents.
💧 Commission Votes to Pursue Water Park Partners

Augusta commissioners voted Tuesday to move ahead with a feasibility study for a proposed water park, a plan officials said was always intended to begin with public seed money and eventually attract a private partner. The city will draw down some of the $5 million voters approved to pay for the feasibility study to determine if a water park at Diamond Lakes, or another location would work. Diamond Lakes Regional Park in South Augusta has been the leading candidate site since voters approved the SPLOST 8 funding in 2021.
What's next: Destination Augusta has been collecting proposals from potential private partners.
🏗️ Savannah Rapids Pavilion Renovation Contract Approved

Columbia County's MIS Committee approved the contract to rebuild Savannah Rapids Pavilion on Tuesday, clearing the way for work to begin on one of the CSRA's most popular event venues. The facility has been closed since Hurricane Helene damage in September 2024, when a tree fell through the building, setting off the fire suppression system, which resulted in flooding. The pavilion sits 80 feet above the Augusta Canal and hosts weddings, conferences, and community events.
What's next: Due to renovations, no reservations will be accepted until construction is completed, estimated for the summer of 2027.
